SkyTeam Lounge Sydney: An Inside Look

The SkyTeam Lounge in Sydney is the third official exclusive lounge in the SkyTeam alliance lounge network.* Sleek and modern, this 8,000 square feet space offers seating for 140 guests. In addition to sweeping airport views, guests can also expect to find an iconic, living green botanical wall, delicious food offerings, and everything they need for a refreshing and productive pre-flight experience. We’re happy to announce that this is the second Australian-based lounge in the LoungeBuddy network after the Plaza Premium Lounge in Brisbane. Needless to say, this makes our CTO, a native of Sydney, Australia, very happy.

*The other locations are in London-Heathrow and Istanbul, along with Hong Kong and Dubai, with the latter two opening after the Sydney location.

While this location is branded as a SkyTeam alliance lounge, the lounge’s actual operator is LoungeBuddy partner Plaza Premium Lounge. An Inside Look

Once you walk in through those frosted glass doors, you’ll receive a warm welcome at the reception area just ahead. Once you’re finished checking in, it’s time to take the escalators down to the ground floor, which is where the main lounge is located. If you ever find yourself in need of assistance, the friendly staff is there to help you out.

As with other contemporary lounges, the SkyTeam Lounge is divided into two main areas: one for rest and relaxation, and the other for eating and drinking. If you want a place to work and be productive, either section could be ideal depending on the nature of the work. Electrical outlets are located conveniently next to each seat, so finding a place to change your electronic devices will be easy and hassle-free.

One work area that really stands out is the communal oval table between the magazine shelves. In the middle of this oval table are a number of AC and USB sockets located under the cover. Just across from this communal work table are three iMac desktop computers, which are perfect if you didn’t bring a device to work on, or even if you’d prefer to work on a larger screen.

Food And Drinks

The food and beverage selection is diverse and tasty, with both hot and cold, Western and Asian options. The food selection consists mainly of snack type options like cookies, pastries, yogurt, salad, and seasonal whole fruits like oranges and apples. Pre-cut tropical fruits and fruit salads may also be also available.

For breakfast, you’ll find typical Continental breakfast items, including biscuits, bread, cheese, and jam, along with more than a few warm items to satisfy hungry guests, including pancakes, bacon, and scrambled eggs. Because most of the SkyTeam flights are on Asia-based carriers, you’ll definitely find some Asian cuisine options, as well, including kimchi, congee, and noodles. Along with poppadoms, roasted chats, and chicken sausages, you’ll find Indonesian dishes like mee goreng (fried noodles) and nasi goreng (fried rice).

Once you’ve finished piling up your plate at the buffet, head on over to the spacious dining area to the right. In addition, window seats with excellent views of the planes outside are available near the buffet area.

Also nearby is the self-service wine bar, where you can try a selection of exquisite wines from around the world, including champagne. Hard liquor is also available, including Grey Goose vodka, Baileys Irish Cream, Hendrick’s Gin, and Jim Beam’s Kentucky bourbon whiskey. Nonalcoholic drinks are also available, including coffee, bottled water, and several different brands of carbonated soft drinks like Coca Cola and Sprite.

Relaxation Zone

The left side of the lounge consists of the large relaxation area, where you’ll discover a sea of comfortable red, beige, and black seats. Here, guests can enjoy superb views of the tarmac in a clean, peaceful, and quiet environment.

Booth seating, table seats, relaxing armchairs, and window seats with great views are all there for your comfort. The living wall, which we mentioned earlier, is located along the back wall above the booth seats. It’s a breath of fresh air that truly brings the room into full bloom, with more than 60 species of fora represented.

To create a restful, quiet atmosphere for the general passengers in the main area, a dedicated TV room has been created specifically for the enjoyment of those who would like to watch some shows in the back.

The wellness center features a number of relaxing showers. Towels are available, as is a shower amenity kit with razor, toothbrush, and toothpaste included. Also, you’ll find four full body electric massage chairs. Any of them can bring you to the height of relaxation.

As a guest of the SkyTeam Lounge, you’ll have the opportunity to take advantage of all these excellent amenities and more. If you’re looking for a quiet, peaceful spot to relax, grab a bite to eat, or get some work done in the midst of a busy, hectic airport terminal, the SkyTeam Lounge in Sydney Airport’s Terminal 1 awaits.
